Artwork by Lea Cook
It is said that dreams are successions of images, ideas, emotions, and sensations that occur involuntarily in the mind during certain stages of sleep. In my dreams I encounter people I’ve known my whole life, I’ve only met once, I’ve seen in photographs, but not in person, I’ve spoken to on the phone and that may have passed through or outside my lifetime. I am able to recognize and interact with individuals in my dreams based off of facial features, smells, colors, circumstance and interaction. I want to challenge the world's perception of what reality is and can be and how dreams, sight and thought can easily translate into reality in ways that may be subconscious or conscious but misunderstood and overlooked.
Sculpture made from materials such as clay, rubber, plastic, metal, wood and plaster. Capturing faces and forms of the world that have entered my life.
Currently diving into the development and shading of forms in black and white as well as color variation. My first introduction to art was through painting and drawing with materials such as oil paints, acrylic paints, watercolors and ink.
All non-functional and functional pottery. Creating vessels and thinking about the space that liquids, and solids ocupy before consumption and the aesthetics of enjoying a handmade vessel's feel.
